On April 4, 2018, as part of the celebration of the International Navruz Holiday and the Culture Days of the Republic of Tajikistan in Japan, the Embassy of Tajikistan organized the «Evening of Friendship» with the participation of artists from Tajikistan and guests — residents of the capital of Japan, who have an active interest to our country.
In opening remarks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Japan Dr. Hamrokhon Zarifi congratulated participants on the arrival of spring – the holidays of “Navruz” and “Ohanami” (Japanese holiday of cherry blossom or Sakura). The Ambassador told the guest about the importance of preserving, cherishing and transferring traditions from generation to generation, the cultural and intangible heritage of Tajik people, and also talked about the intensively developing sphere of tourism. In this regard, the Ambassador particularly emphasized the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon for the comprehensive development of the country and the presentation of a positive image of the country to the world community. Dr. H. Zarifi also noted that, under the instructions of the country’s President, the 2018 was declared “the Year of Tourism and Folk Crafts Development in Tajikistan”.
The “Eveing of Friendship” continued with performances of Tajik artists that performed their compositions with national musical instruments. Guests were shown videos about the rich cultural heritage and history of the Tajik people, about the current development and the achievements of the country, tourism opportunities, unique natural landscapes and historical monuments.
Event participants showed interest in the attributes of arts and crafts – suzani, zarduzi, gulduzi, national men’s and women’s clothing with ornamental gold embroidery, headdresses (hats), musical instruments, kundal (ornamental wood painting), artist paintings, etc., which were presented to guests for a closer acquaintance with the ancient culture and identity of the Tajik people.
Guests immersed into the atmosphere of warm hospitality of the Tajik people, and enjoyed a variety of dishes of national cuisine.
