Meetings with members of the upper and lower houses of the Japanese Parliament

On October 27, 2016 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in Japan Dr. Hamrokhon Zarifi met with members of the upper and lower houses of the Japanese Parliament.

During the meeting with the Member of House of Representatives from Liberal Democratic Party, former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mr. Hase Hiroshi issues of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, technology, economy, trade, culture and sport were discussed.

The sides paid special attention to the expansion of the number of scholarships for Tajikistan provided by Government of Japan and also development of effective cooperation in the exchange of experience in the sphere of sports.

The exchange of views on the establishment of trade and economic relations between Tajikistan and Japan, as well as on the implementation of the reached agreements at the meeting of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe in Dushanbe in October 2015, took place during the meeting with the Member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Hajime Sasaki.

Participants of the meeting agreed on a concrete set of proposals to enhance the mutually beneficial relations between the two countries. In particular, the sides discussed issues related to the holding of the first session of the Tajikistan-Japan Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

On the same day Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan held meeting with the Member House of Councillors of National Diet of Japan from the Liberal Democratic Party, Mr. Naoki Okada, who previously held the post of State Minister of Finance of Japan.

During the meeting, sides discussed issues of business cooperation in the light of the outcome of the meeting of the heads of the two countries, including the expansion of bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, energy, investment, as well as implementation of joint projects in the fields of energy and mining.

The two sides agreed that there is a huge untapped potential between two countries, which needs to be used extensively for building up cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
